N1 RECORDS

N1 RECORDS delivers in it's first 6 months.
Since it’s launch late 2012, The Northern Sound System’s N1 RECORDS project has smashed it out of the park.
The project promised that: “recording artists will be selected by a peer panel to produce and release a single, record a live film clip, attend professional development workshops, build up their audience and create an industry standard promotional toolkit.”
6 months on and with 3 months to go, N1 Artists have been recording in NSS Studios, attending workshops, identifying and planning potential careers, creating invaluable networks, playing gigs and making their dent in the industry.
The N1 Project has given the Adelaide Music Industry a reason to work with NSS, mostly through the N1PRO Workshops. Offering industry heads a chance to meet the N1 Artists and share their knowledge in a semi-formal interview-esque environment. NSS has been fortunate to have visits from JL Publishing, APRA, Arcade Photo, By Popular Demand, Joe Demaria, The Audreys, The Beards, Dan Crannitch of Leader Cheetah and Delta to name a few. Representatives from Warner Records and a huge AUS act (I’m not allowed to mention yet) are slated for appearances at future events.
Electro Rapper TKay Maidza (pictured) has made significant headway into the industry after a collaboration with Adelaide dubstep producer ‘BadCop’. Their track ‘Handle my Ego’ blew up on Triple J’s Unearthed website nailing the No.1 spot in the Hip Hop charts and gaining the attention of JJJ presenters Dom Alessio and Dave Ruby Howe. Aptly Ruby Howe reviewed: “Tkay snarls out her raps with actual venom…” BOOM!
Subsequently TKay has attracted attention from no less than 3 major record labels, 2 booking agents and a veritable hoard of collaboration requests worldwide. TKay signed to Adelaide’s own fivefourentertainment company late Feb 2013 to help her navigate the madness.
N1 Records. 3 months left. More Soon.
