Camira
Camira is a 22 year old rapper who currently resides in Adelaide, South Australia, where he was born and raised. At the age of 15, he realised that rapping was what he loved, he found it was a perfect way to express himself through a medium that could be heard by the people. He recorded his first song at the age of 16, and uses his music as a form of self expression. His lyrics show alot of emotion, love and adoration that he has for his family. His future just has to be in the rap industry, drawing his inspiration from the want, to provide a better situation for his family through his music. Camira is able to fluently switch between quick witted, smart talking, punchline type songs, and songs that are more heart felt, deep and make you think about life, and different situations. It is this ability that makes him so versatile, and not as one dimentional as other artists in the rap scene. The style of hip-hop that Camira creates, cannot in any way, shape or form, be compared to the traditional Australian hip-hop that has been created over the last few years. His sound is truly unique, and not what would be expected from a small city white boy. Camira has been representing Adelaide with a passion and has received regular airplay on 92.7 FRESH FM, Adelaide’s 101.5FM and WoWFM. He has also received WoWFM’s Oz Artist of the Week Review, as well as numerous radio spots on WoWFM and Radio Adelaide where he co-hosted the show, and performed 'The Weirdest Dream' live to rave reviews. His music has also been broadcasted via internet radio stations in France, San Diego and Melbourne. 2008 was a very busy year for Camira, performing as part of Northern Sound System’s youth week celebration. He also performed alongside Sydney MC, Str8-Up-T at Adelaide nightclub Red Square. In June, he formatted the idea of raising funds for a local Adelaide charity, where he became co-project manager. 'Emcees For Charity' showcased Camira and other local rappers, and raised funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in South Australia. In December, Camira was invited to perform at the Ronald McDonald House Christmas party, which was organised for sick and ailing kids from all around South Australia. Late 2008 also saw Camira perform as part of Sydney MC, NJE's 'Independant Hustler's Mixtape' launch where the crowd reacted more than enthusiastically to his performance. 2010 is shaping up to be a bigger year, with the introduction of Camira's first EP entitled "For My People". More than happy with the response from his first two mixtapes "The Birth Of A Legend" and "The Other Side Of The Tracks", Camira feels "For My People" will cover different emotions and as always leave the listener, wanting more. With an ever growing fan base, not just in Australia, but overseas, Camira is slowly becoming a name to know. We're a Hip-Hop band from the sticks. Because of this we have a very unique style as we have had to build our sound from scratch not influence. Where a three piece and all MC's in the group are excellent lyricists and performers.
